Jason's Cradle

Jason’s Cradle is a man overboard recovery system designed to recover casualties safely, quickly, and horizontally back on board a vessel or rescue boat.

It is a globally recognized solution for fast and simple recovery operations. The system also provides a safer method for rescuers, eliminating the need to manually lift casualties on board.

The Jason’s Cradle is SOLAS approved. The product can be used for three years without inspection, after which annual inspections are required.

The cradle is manufactured from durable plastic materials, while all moving components are connected using 316 marine-grade stainless steel to provide excellent corrosion resistance.

The product has a long service life of more than 10 years.

Many organizations consider the Jason’s Cradle to be standard safety equipment for protecting passengers and crew members. It is widely used by navies, coast guards, military organizations, rescue services, oil and offshore companies, fishing vessels, and commercial shipping companies worldwide. The RNLI also uses the Jason’s Cradle.

With a standard cradle setup, the system is mounted on one side of the vessel and securely fixed inside the boat. For RIBs, a dedicated Hypalon mounting kit is available. During use, the cradle unfolds into a circular net which is lowered into the water. The vessel approaches the casualty so the head enters the opening first, followed by the upper body. The rescue crew then pulls the line, allowing the casualty to roll horizontally back on board.

Recovering hypothermic casualties in a horizontal position can be lifesaving. The cradle also improves safety for rescue personnel during recovery operations.

The FRC (Fast Rescue Craft) kit is specifically designed for high-speed rescue boats. FRC kits are supplied with mounting hardware and a storage bag. Users can choose between rubber patch mounting for inflatable tubes or stainless steel eye mounts installed inside the hull.
